New to CGCC? Fill out this form! You may qualify for two benefits that can help lower the cost of your first term.
First Class Free
Your first class at CGCC is free, up to a value of $640 (tuition and fees for a 4-credit class).
The First Class Free waiver covers the tuition and fees for one credit class during your first term as a degree-seeking student, including undeclared majors.
Books, course materials, and supplies are not included.
$200 Welcome Waiver
You may also receive a $200 Welcome Waiver to help with other charges on your CGCC student account that are from credit classes.
The Welcome Waiver may be applied toward eligible charges, including:
- Tuition and fees for additional classes
- Books and course materials charged to your student account
- Supplies charged to your student account
- Lab fees and other course-related charges not covered by First Class Free
The First Class Free waiver is applied first. The $200 Welcome Waiver is then applied to your remaining eligible student account balance.
If your remaining eligible balance is less than $200, the Welcome Waiver will cover only the amount owed. Unused funds are not paid to you as cash, refunded, or carried over to a future term.
Who Is Eligible?
You may qualify for both First Class Free and the $200 Welcome Waiver if you have not previously taken classes at CGCC as a degree-seeking student, including as an undeclared major.
You are still eligible if your previous CGCC classes were taken through:
- A high school dual enrollment program
- Community Education
- GED preparation
- English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
- Adult Basic Education (ABE)
High school dual enrollment includes programs such as College Now, Expanded Options, Running Start, Early College, or other high school enrollment programs.
Students receiving another CGCC tuition waiver, including employee or dependent tuition waivers, student athlete waivers, and Gorge Scholars, are not eligible for First Class Free or the $200 Welcome Waiver.
How to Apply
One application is used for both First Class Free and the $200 Welcome Waiver.
- Apply to CGCC if you have not already applied.
- Complete the welcome waiver application.
- Register for your first term at CGCC.
- Attend class beyond the first week of the term.
CGCC will review your eligibility and apply any eligible waiver amounts to your student account after the add/drop deadline.
