Privacy policies for CGCC
FERPA
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) of 1974 (also known as the Buckley Amendment) prohibits the use or dissemination of personally-identifiable student information without the student's permission. CGCC adheres to FERPA when handling and using student information. More on the FERPA page.
General Privacy Policy Notice
Columbia Gorge Community College does not give, sell, or otherwise transfer any email address listed on its site to any other party for the purpose of initiating, or enabling others to initiate email messages.
Email, SMS and Texting Privacy Notice
Columbia Gorge Community College respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information.
CGCC does not give, sell, rent, or otherwise transfer email addresses, mobile phone numbers, SMS consent data, or other personally identifiable contact information to third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes.
If you choose to provide your mobile phone number and opt in to receive text messages from CGCC, you may receive communications related to admissions, enrollment, financial aid, advising, student support services, campus events, emergency notifications, and college programs.
Message frequency may vary. Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and service plan.
You may opt out of SMS communications at any time by replying STOP to any message. Reply HELP for assistance.
SMS opt-in data and consent records will not be shared with third parties, except with vendors and service providers that facilitate text messaging services on behalf of CGCC.
Social Security Number Disclosure
Providing a Social Security number is voluntary. If a student provides it, the college will use their Social Security number for keeping records, doing research, aggregate reporting, extending credit and collecting debts. A student’s Social Security number will not be given to the general public. Students who choose not to provide a Social Security number will not be denied any rights as a student. Photos and Video Taken on Campus
CGCC reserves the right to use photos and video taken at college-sponsored events on- or off-campus for college promotional use. Individuals who do not wish to have their image used should speak to Student Services or the event coordinator for an event they attend or participate in.
