Columbia Gorge Community College encourages all eligible students to participate in the democratic process by registering to vote and casting their ballots in local, state, and federal elections. Active civic engagement is a vital part of a thriving, inclusive community.
In accordance with the Higher Education Act, CGCC provides the following resources to ensure students have access to voter registration information.
Oregon Residents
Although Oregon automatically registers eligible voters through the DMV under the Oregon Motor Voter law, students are encouraged to verify their registration is current, especially if they have changed addresses, names, or political party affiliation. Oregon residents can check or update their registration and find election information at the Secretary of State website linked below.

Washington Residents
Students who live in Washington State and are eligible to vote can register or update their registration through the Washington Secretary of State’s website at www.votewa.gov. Washington also offers automatic voter registration through the Department of Licensing, as well as same-day registration and vote-by-mail options.

CGCC students who reside outside of Oregon or Washington should check with their local municipality, county, and state of residence to ensure they are eligible and registered to vote. The government website Vote.Gov has information for all 50 states, U.S. territories, and voting-eligible United States citizens who live abroad.
