Hathi Trust  a partnership of more than sixty major research institutions with Google, the Hathi Trust Digital Library includes all the book images from these libraries that have been digitized by Google. Only out-of-copyright images (generally pre-1923) can be displayed, or others where the permission of the copyright holder has been obtained.

Internet Archive and Open Library offers over 8,000,000 fully accessible public domain eBooks. This includes a special modern collection of over 500,000 eBooks for users with print disabilities, and a very interesting curated, modern collection for the world at large.

JSTOR Open Access Books 7,000+ Open Access ebooks from 90 publishers, including Brill, Cornell University Press, De Gruyter, and University of California Press, are now available at no cost to libraries or users.

Open Textbook Library have been funded, published, and licensed to be freely used, adapted, and distributed. These books have been reviewed by faculty from a variety of colleges and universities to assess their quality. These books can be downloaded for no cost, or printed at low cost. All textbooks are either used at multiple higher education institutions; or affiliated with an institution, scholarly society, or professional organization.

African Journals Online (AJOL): The world's largest and preeminent platform of African-published scholarly journals. AJOL is a Non-Profit Organization that works to increase global & continental online access, awareness, quality & use of African-published, peer-reviewed research. *You must register for a free account to use this resource. 

AfricArXiv: A community-led digital archive for African research, this database is working to build an African-owned open scholarly repository of scholarly works to catalyze the African Renaissance.

Independent Voices: An open access digital collection of alternative press newspapers, magazines and journals, drawn from the special collections of participating libraries. These periodicals were produced by feminists, dissident GIs, campus radicals, Native Americans, anti-war activists, Black Power advocates, Hispanics, LGBT activists, the extreme right-wing press and alternative literary magazines during the latter half of the 20th century.

J-STAGE: Based in Japan, this database circulates research in science, technology, humanities and social sciences. MEDLINE: (EBSCO) is an authoritative bibliographic database containing citations and abstracts for biomedical and health journals used by health care professionals, nurses, clinicians and researchers created by the United States Library of Medicine.
