Otolith, CGCC's literary journal, is published every two years by students who take the Advanced Creative Writing, Editing, and Publishing course.

Mission Statement

Otolith journal celebrates the wealth of creativity at CGCC by holding space for artists and writers to share and connect.

Submissions are closed for this issue. Stay tuned for production details!

Submissions will be accepted from current and former CGCC students, faculty, and staff, pre-college, and Community Education students.

To submit written artwork:

  • Submissions accepted until end of day January 3, 2024
  • Email submissions to: cwc@cgcc.edu
  • Attach submissions as .doc, docx, or include link(s) to Google doc (with access permission)
  • Work is anonymously judged so DO NOT put your name on work itself
  • All work MUST be titled (except submissions to six-word stories)
  • Include a brief bio (60 words or less), connection to CGCC, your email address, phone number, and titles of each work submitted
  • You may submit up to 5 poems and 3 prose pieces

To submit visual artwork:

  • Submissions accepted until end of day January 3, 2024

  • Art can be submitted as jpg, tiff, or pdf
  • Include a brief bio (60 words or less), connection to CGCC, your email address, phone number, and titles of each work submitted

Fiction Prose

  • Submit short stories up to 3,000 words

Nonfiction Prose

  • Submit memoir/personal essays up to 3,000 words

Poetry

  • Submit up to 5 poems

Short Shorts

  • Short shorts should be 250-750 words
  • Can be fiction or nonfiction
  • Submit up to 5 short shorts

Six-Word Stories

  • Six-word stories must be exactly six words (this would include the title, but no title is required)
  • Can be fiction or nonfiction
  • Submit up to 10 six-word stories

Visual Art

  • Submit print-ready images at 300 DPI*
  • Submit as jpg, tiff, or pdf file*
  • Submit up to 1 color image (it may be selected for the cover)
  • Submit up to 4 black & white images
