Associated Student Government recently voted to move forward with a proposed amendment to the ASCGCC Constitution that would change the Chinook Salmon as CGCC’s mascot and allow students to select a new mascot.
This does not mean the mascot has been removed or that a new mascot has already been selected. ASG’s vote moves the proposal forward to the student body, where the college community will make the final decision.
Here is what happens next:
· Information about the proposed mascot choices will be shared with students.
· The College Administration will offer informational sessions before voting begins so students can learn more, ask questions, and provide feedback.
· A special student election will be held November 16–20, 2026.
· Students will vote on whether to replace the Chinook Salmon and which mascot they would like selected if the change is approved.
