It's the monthly Community Zine Club! Come hang out at the Columbia Gorge Community College Library and make a zine (pronounced “zeen”)—aka a little DIY magazine! Zines can be about ANYTHING, and the CGCC Library has a large collection of zines to browse on topics like biking, gardening, local history, mutual aid, and political theory.
Drop in Thursday, June 25th between 4:00–7:00 PM for a fun time chatting with other folks interested in zines, learning about zine history & culture, and making your own zines.
This month's meeting theme is LGBTQ+ pride! You will be able to peruse a curated selection of zine examples by queer authors and about queer history. There will also be a variety of pride-themed craft materials to make zines with, as well as snacks and music. This time, the meeting will be held in The Cove—the room immediately to the right when you walk into the Library.
Read some, make some, trade some—discover just how awesome zines can be. Your zine collection starts today!
Masks will be available if you'd like one, and there will be an air purifier nearby. This workshop is taught in English, with handouts in English and Spanish. If you have questions about the community zine club, please contact Danny Jacobsen, who is the event coordinator and zine library curator. You can email them at djacobsen@cgcc.edu.
