It's the monthly Community Zine Club! Come hang out at the CGCC library and make a zine—aka a little DIY magazine! Or, browse the catalog of the brand new zine library for inspiration or just for fun. Drop in August 21st anytime between 1PM–4PM to chat with other folks interested in zines, learn a little about zine history and culture, and have access to supplies & guidance for making your own.
This month, there is an online Zoom option! (https://cgcc.zoom.us/j/3765264133?omn=89963008386; Meeting ID: 376 526 4133.) Zine-making kits to borrow and use during the workshop are available to pick up from the CGCC library on The Dalles Campus now through the 20th. Transport to Hood River Campus can also be arranged—please email library@cgcc.edu. However, you might already have all the supplies you need at home: the essentials are paper, scissors, and writing/drawing tools.
Future zine club dates are August 21, September 25, October 16, and November 20. There will be no meeting in December.
At the in-person event, masking is requested, but optional. Masks will be available if you'd like one. This specific workshop is taught in English, with handouts in English and Spanish.
If you have questions about the community zine club, please contact Danny Jacobsen, who is the event coordinator and zine library curator. You can email them at djacobsen@cgcc.edu.
