The CGCC Creative Writing Club invites you to our monthly Open Mic Night—an evening dedicated to celebrating stories, poetry, and all forms of original creative writing. Whether you’re a seasoned writer or sharing your work for the first time, this is your chance to shine in a welcoming and supportive community.
What to Expect:
- First-come, first-served sign-ups: The first 10 people to sign up will secure a slot to present their work. Additional slots may be available as time permits.
- Performance time: Each participant is given 5 minutes and there will be 10 readers, so each reader is encouraged to be mindful of their time.
- Prizes: Exciting prizes await those who present their work!
Basic etiquette for open mic reading:
- If your reading contains triggering material, please give a quick content warning before you read
- Reading time includes any introduction/comments you make
- Keep your content respectful and inclusive—this is a space for everyone.
- Stick to the time limit so we can hear from as many voices as possible.
- Be prepared when your name is called—practice makes perfect!
- Show support by staying for the entire event and cheering on your fellow writers.
For the Audience:
- Please put devices away and listen when others read
- Please do not talk while others are reading
- Be generous with each reader — this work is very vulnerable
- Material shared here stays here. Original creators have the right to share their work with others.
- No recording or photographs without permission
Not ready to take the mic? No problem! Next month's Open Mic is March 12th!
Let’s make this Open Mic Night an unforgettable celebration of creativity and courage. Bring your words, bring your passion, and let’s share some magic together!
