Dropping or Withdrawing from Classes

Credit classes must be dropped online through the student portal (MyCGCC). If a credit class is not dropped within the drop period, it will result in a "W" grade on the transcript, indicating a withdrawal, and no charges will be reversed.

A drop is when the student removes themself from the class within the add/drop period, usually the first week of the term. A withdrawal is when the student removes themself from the class from weeks 2 though 8. After week 8, students may not remove themselves from the class. Students are entitled to a 100% refund, except for non-refundable fees, when a course is dropped with the following rules:

  • 11 week classes - drop by the first Friday of the term
  • No refunds will be given after the deadline, except in cases where a Tuition Appeal is approved
  • More information about payments, tuition, fees, dropping, and refunds is available here

Students will not receive a refund for withdrawn classes.
