Background

Susan started at CGCC in August, 2000 as the adult literacy coordinator and designed and developed what is now the Gorge Literacy program. Shortly thereafter, she expanded her responsibilities by joining the Pre-College department, teaching reading, writing and math. She has enjoyed her time with students inside and outside the classroom and appreciates the opportunity to share and learn together.

Susan later expanded her role at the college to embrace more administrative duties, becoming the director of curriculum & academic assessment. As such, she manages CGCC's Curriculum Office, providing support to the Curriculum Committee, faculty and staff in the development and maintenance of courses, certificates and degrees. She monitors curricular compliance with state and federal agencies. In addition, she manages academic assessment activities and institutional accreditation compliance and reporting.

Currently, Susan is the dean of teaching & learning foundations, still managing the Curriculum & Academic Assessment Department (CAAD), but also now providing oversight for the Pre-College Department and the Library & Learning Commons.

Susan enjoys the fact that she has an eclectic job in which she is fortunate to explore different areas of the education arena. So in addition to her other duties, she has, over the years, organized a variety of co-curricular activities, including: the Spring Humanities Series, the Science Summit, guest authors, music and theatrical events, and on- and off-campus art shows.
