Bio

With a career that is well versed in building public/private partnerships, CGCC’s Dylan McManus comes to his position as the Career Connected Learning Systems Navigator with over a decade of experience building contemporary classrooms and pedagogy. Dylan’s path in education started as an international artist whose work blends traditional practices with advanced manufacturing to explore post-digital artistic expression.. While teaching at SUNY New Paltz, McManus worked with the Fine Art and Engineering schools to build the Hudson Valley Advanced Manufacturing Center. Backed by the State of New York and funded through public/private partnerships Mr. McManus acted as one of the faculty responsible for maintaining this center, creating pedagogy and building best practices.

In 2015 Dylan McManus and his wife Bethany Ayres-McManus returned to Beth’s family farm and began working with OSU extension, various NGO’s and local industry to explore small farming and agricultural tourism in the Columbia River Gorge. Along this journey he also worked for The City of The Dalles, and Columbia Gorge Community College to help design, facilitate and build post-digital K-College classrooms. As the Assistant Director of The Dalles-Wasco County Public Library Mr. McManus worked to help create maker spaces at The Dalles Library, Wahtonka Community School, and STEM kits for the local ESD. After working as a primary partner for the US2020 Citizens School initiative by his local STEM Hub, he eventually went on to work as a librarian and strategic planner for CGCC. Prior to taking the position of CCLSN McManus acted in an advisory capacity for CGCC’s new Skill Center. While the facility was being built Dylan was instrumental in expanding and fostering community relationships that will help with rural retention and economic development over the next several years in CGCC’s service area.
