Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs play a critical role in preparing students for in-demand careers and supporting local workforce needs. Through the Roundhouse Foundation’s Regional Community College Career & Technical Education Program, Columbia Gorge Community College (CGCC) is helping reduce financial barriers that can prevent students from completing hands-on training.
Unlike traditional tuition-focused aid, the Roundhouse Foundation’s CTE support helps cover non-tuition expenses such as tools, equipment, safety gear, and other required materials — costs that often pose challenges for students enrolled in technical programs.
Since launching in 2020, the program has awarded more than $1.25 million to support approximately 4,700 students at 13 rural Oregon community colleges, including CGCC. Funding has supported over 30 fields of study, strengthening pathways into careers that are essential to rural communities and regional economies.
This investment allows CGCC students to focus on gaining practical skills, earning credentials, and entering the workforce prepared for success. By addressing real-world barriers, the Roundhouse Foundation’s CTE program continues to make a meaningful impact for students, colleges, and communities across rural Oregon.
