Understanding Online Payments Project Completed

The Web Core team recently completed a research project to discover the underpinnings of the campus' online payment segment of the class registration system. The project involved interviews with eight involved parties from the Business Office, Student Services and Rogue Community College.

A few things we found during our research:

  • It is easy for students to misunderstand the system and not pay for a class before it starts
  • General writing that is unclear or does not effectively guide the student through the checkout
  • Students are likely not to print their reciept. Reciepts are not very detailed, and are not emailed to the student
  • A mobile version of the payment system is in the works but will not be implemented for two years

We will be taking our entire findings into account as we move into other sections of the site, using the information to inform any applicable future projects, and to improve the entire payment system to our maximum capability.
