Background
Professor Meislahn came to CGCC in 2016 with an extensive background as an entrepreneur and brings significant, real-world experience to the classroom. He is passionate about teaching undergraduates and other adults in the fundamentals and finer points of entrepreneurship, management, finance, and accounting. Following is a list of his most notable business ventures and accomplishments:
Guitarfish Music (2012-2016) - Launched an innovative new music retail concept combining unparalleled music education with an upscale presentation of select high-end guitars. Established three elegant showrooms and studios in preparation for franchising. Researched, identified, and acquired a unique educational management system. Assembled a highly skilled technical team to service clients at a world-class level.
Advantage Point Learning (2002-2012) - Established the premier provider of Supplemental Educational Services in public schools under the federal No Child Left Behind act. Effectively led over 800 employees serving thousands of low-income students to improve reading and math skills. Expanded services to students in over 500 public schools throughout Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Nevada. Consistently delivered the highest advancement levels when compared to other national providers.
1-800-RECONEX (1992-2001) – Pioneered the Pre-Paid Dial Tone telecommunications industry that eventually spawned over 300 competitors. Built a $500 investment into a $20 million nationwide carrier of local telephone service with 200 employees and over 26,000 customers. Quoted in national business magazines including Forbes and Business Week.
Prior to his entrepreneurial career, Professor Meislahn was a professional touring and studio musician.
