These limited duration assignments are scheduled to end on or before 06/30/2021. The positions may be extended beyond this date and/or this position could have continued funding approved through the PFP process. These positions have the potential to become permanent. Limited duration appointments are regular status and benefits eligible.

Please note: Salary range posted is the Non-PERS salary range. If you are a participating PERS member the salary range is $3,817 - $5,559 monthly.

What you will be doing: The primary purpose of this position is to analyze claims to determine monetary edibility to receive Unemployment Insurance benefits. Adjudicators investigate potentially disqualifying issues using fact finding interviews with the parties to the claim. It is a technical position requiring extensive knowledge of complex Federal laws, State Statutes, Administrative Rules, and policy manuals relative to the unemployment insurance program. The position requires skills in identifying issues; gathering, evaluating, interpreting, and presenting facts in a relationship to applications of the laws, rules, and policies governing the program.

In this role you will:

  • Recognize and identifies claimant eligibility issues, (past, present, and future); uses human relationship skills to gather, evaluate and document pertinent facts from claimants, employers, and others.
  • Analyze claims to determine eligibility for Unemployment Insurance benefits; apply relevant statutes, rules and regulations and determine the need for further investigation and documentation.
  • Investigate potential disqualifying issues and use problem solving methods to determine eligibility for unemployment insurance benefits.
  • Interpret and apply law and policy to each individual’s situation; prepare a timely written decision to deny or allow benefits which clearly communicate the facts, conclusions and reasoning used to support the decision.
  • Analyze information and documentation gathered and issues decision.
  • Interview interested parties by telephone and correspondence, to obtain pertinent information and documentation relative to the investigation.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • One year of experience processing unemployment insurance claims; OR Two years of experience which included at least two of the following: 1) identifying contested claims issues, 2) gathering, evaluating and interpreting facts; 3) preparing written statements or documents; and/or 4) a working knowledge of federal and state unemployment insurance laws; OR
  • An equivalent combination of experience
