Full-time Detention Officer and On-Call Detention Officers. Successful applicants will work with diverse groups of youth ages 12-17 years in a secure facility. It is a profession work place environment with opportunities to receive training and experience. The on-call position is relief and does not guarantee any hours. Employees must have a valid drivers license, pass a background check, drug, physical and other testing as indicted by the position. Work within a juvenile detention facility carrying out the duties of supervision, engagement and positive youth development of the youth placed within the facility. Interactions may include interviewing youth upon intake, pat searches and supervision of youth transitioning into the facility from law enforcement. Documentation and communication about the status of youth to other staff members, service providers, and probation department. Maintain a clean and safe facility at all times, and be able to respond to emergency or emotionally reactive youth. The position requires staff to engage in training and keep updated on the best practice of juvenile detention facilities and work with youth currently involved with the Oregon juvenile justice system.


These positions are entry level positions, training will be provided. Successful applicants will need to have successfully completed a high school level of education and be a minimum of 21 years of age. Ability to write and orally communicate. A current valid Driver's License is required. Skills in data entry, diverse software programs, and office machines. As part of the background investigation the conviction of a Class A Misdemeanor or Felony may be an exclusionary finding.
