The Columbia Gorge Community College (CGCC) American Heart Association (AHA) Authorized Training Center is operated to serve the regional need for AHA oversight and support of approximately 100 instructors as well as the standardization of training for basic and advanced life saving skills.

Mission: provide a local Training Center for AHA instructors so that they may strengthen the surrounding communities by providing instruction at several levels of First Aid and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

CGCC offers AHA instruction at Hood River - Indian Creek Campus and The Dalles Campus.

Course Descriptions

First Aid/CPR & AED

The Heartsaver First Aid Course teaches rescuers to effectively recognize and treat adult emergencies in the critical first minutes until emergency medical services personnel arrive. The course also provides a complete health and safety training solution for first aid, adult/infant CPR, and Automated External Defibrillation AED. Course meets State of Oregon daycare licensing requirement.

CPR For Healthcare Providers

The BLS for Healthcare providers covers core material such as adult and pediatric CPR including two-rescuer scenarios and use of the bag mask, foreign-body airway obstruction, and automated external defibrillation.

BLS CPR & First Aid Instructor Training

At the completion of this 3 part course students will be authorized by the American Heart Association to teach both the Heartsaver First Aid & CPR and BLS for Heathcare Provider CPR courses.

AHA Instructor Recertification

Completion of this course will renew certification as a BLS Instructor through the American Heart Association.
