Presidential search nears semi-finalist phase
Forty-four people have applied to become the next president of Columbia Gorge Community College, and now the next round in the selection process begins as search team members establish a pool of semi-finalists.
Applications for the position closed Feb. 1.
“It is my personal assessment that currently we have a large enough number of highly qualified candidates that we will have a very solid pool of semi-finalists,” said Dr. Lee Fairchild, the college board member who is managing the search effort. “Most applications are carefully considered and represent a large amount of effort, suggesting to me that they are serious about the position,” Fairchild said.
The search committee will select semi-finalists Feb. 9. Online interviews by the search committee and college board of education are the week of Feb. 19-23. “Finalists then will be recommended to the Board of Education, who will select our finalists,” Fairchild explained. Those finalists will visit the college in March, he added. “All of you will have an opportunity to meet with the candidates during those visits and provide your assessment of them.”
