Columbia Gorge earns high ranking in national assessment

Columbia Gorge Community College is among Oregon’s best four community colleges, according to a cumulative score released in January by a national ranking organization. conducts its rankings based upon academic quality, affordability and on-line programming as reported through the US. “Our rankings are intended to inform and guide prospective students toward institutions that provide a quality education and a meaningful learning experience at an affordable cost.”

Columbia Gorge Community College earned fourth place in the statewide community college rankings for Oregon, joining three other small, rural community colleges in the top rank: Tillamook Bay Community College was ranked first, followed by Clatsop, Oregon Coast and Columbia Gorge. Among Oregon’s universities, Reed College was ranked first, followed by the University of Portland and Oregon Institute of Technology.

“With student ages ranging from nine to 89, Columbia Gorge Community College’s student body clearly represents a diverse population,” stated in its ranking assessment. “Located in the middle of the Columbia River Gorge … CGCC draws knowledge-seeking adventurers from all over the world to hike, fish, and windsurf while receiving an excellent education through the school’s diverse educational programs. CGCC also makes credit transfers easy: students who earn their associate degree at CGCC and wish to continue their education at a four-year school won’t need to start over at a new institution.”
