New Student Checklist
Apply
- Select the type of admissions that applies to your situation
- Fill out an online application
- CGCC is open enrollment, so you don't need to apply at a certain time of year
Take Accuplacer Placement Assessment
- Make an appointment with Student Services to take the placement assessment
- OR bring official transcripts from a previous college
Apply for Financial Aid (Optional)
- Check your CGCC email at least once a week for additional forms that may be needed
- Takes 8-10 weeks to process once all forms are received
- Contact Financial Aid office with any questions
Complete Online Student Orientation
- Create an account through the orientation website, welcome.cgcc.edu
- Watch videos and read information to learn more about CGCC
Meet with an Academic Advisor (Mandatory)
- Discuss placement scores or transcripts
- Plan your schedule and get an "Okay to register"
- Check your financial aid status and submit required forms
- Explore your MyCGCC account and learn how to access online/hybrid classes
Attend New Student Day
- Tour campus, meet staff, instructors and current students
- Connect to campus resources: Library, Bookstore, Veterans Services, Disability Services, etc.
- Obtain your CGCC Identification
Purchase Books and Get Student ID & Library Card
- See the booklist online at cgcc.edu/bookstore
- Visit the library to get your Student ID & Library Card, or submit a request
Attend Classes
- Attend all classes or login to all online classes on the first day to avoid being dropped
Pay for Classes
- Payment for classes or make a payment plan by the first Friday of the term
Schedule OnTrack1 Appointment
- OT1 is a 45 minute individual appointment with your academic advisor
- Check-in, talk about goals, and confirm your education plan
- Career Advising and/or other services as needed
