The SSA Internship Program (Program) is to provide opportunities for students in high school, college, trade schools, and other qualifying educational institutions to explore Federal careers as paid employees while completing their education.

The intern will be given orientation to SSA and basic orientation in the functions and operations of the organization to which the intern is assigned.

This position is located in The Dalles Field Office at 401 E. 3rd Street, Suite 110, The Dalles, Oregon. This office offers flexible work schedules.

NOTE: This position is being filled on a temporary full-time basis NOT TO EXCEED 09/30/14.

Internship Program Eligibility

Students must be: at least 16 years of age enrolled in or accepted for enrollment and seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) in a qualifying educational institution be in good academic standing have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 as documented on the most recent grade report, carry at least a half-time course load as defined by the education institution (may carry less than half-time in the term immediately prior to graduating).

Proof of enrollment (e.g. transcripts or letter of enrollment) MUST be provided with your application package.


Work assigned to the Intern is of an administrative, professional, or analytical nature to develop interns towards their target position.

The Intern administers or performs work involved in management analysis; correspondence; mail and file work; the operation of office applicances; procurement of the most effective and efficient communications services; duplicating equipment; and other work of a general clerical and administrative nature.

  • Relocation expenses will not be paid
