On Saturday September 7, Student Life won first place for their float in Bingen's Huckleberry Festival parade. They themed the float Mark Twain's Rafting Adventure. It even included Mark Twain himself. The float not only promoted CGCC and Student Life but literacy. Mark Twain, otherwise known as Josh Larson Phi Theta Kappa Chapter President, held a first edition copy of Tom Sawyer while riding in the parade. Christy Reichert, Student Government Vice President, was the mastermind behind the float concept. Margaret Bellamy, Student Government President and Christy worked hard a few days before the parade to design the decorations. Greenhill Lumber in Dallesport provided the cedar planks used to decorate the float. Thank you to facilities for providing the truck and trailer on Saturday. A huge thank you to Russ for driving and taking time out of his weekend to help CGCC Student Life.
