This is a hands‐on, introductory course in 3D solid‐modeling with SolidWorks. The course will be taught from a practical, methods‐based point of view using realistic and tangible modeling concepts. The course introduces SolidWorks design software as a 3D design and validation tool emphasizing processes and procedures for completion of any task. Upon completion of the class students should be able to create dynamic parametric models, assemblies, and dimensioned drawings. Students attending this course are expected to have some experience with the use of computers, the Windows operating system and a familiarity with modern program operation. Some knowledge of the principles of mechanical drafting or design is helpful, but not required.
