Loren was born and raised in the Rogue Valley of Southern Oregon. He initially attended Southern Oregon University in Ashland. He later transferred to the University of Oregon, where he received concurrent Bachelor of Arts degrees in International studies and Spanish language and later earned a Master of Science in education and curriculum development. Throughout his undergraduate years, Loren worked part time as a builder and painter to support his education.
He has lived and traveled in South America, where he was able to extend his Spanish skills while exploring other cultures and ways of life. Ultimately deciding that he belonged to the Pacific Northwest, Loren settled in Hood River in 2009, where he taught in a variety of settings before joining the student services department of Columbia Gorge Community College (CGCC). Loren is passionate about the places and people of the Pacific Northwest and is keen to enable students to expand their knowledge and utilize their skills.
