Library Policies And Services Student Identification Cards
A valid college identification card is required to borrow library materials, receive free computer print-outs, and use the student computers in the Library Computer Lab.
The library will make an identification card for you.
The identification card must be validated each semester.
There is a $10.00 charge for replacing lost identification cards
Keep the library staff informed of any changes in address, telephone number, or name.
Library materials may not be borrowed without a student identification card.
Borrowing Books
Books may be borrowed for 28 days.
Borrowed books may be renewed twice.
Videos, journals, magazines, reference books, microfilm, and microfiche may only be used in the library.
Reserve materials are available at the circulation desk for use in the library.
Books that are not returned within 90 days after the due date are considered lost and will be assessed a lost book fee of $60.
Books that are lost and returned will be assessed a processing fee of $10.
Renewing Books Borrowed books may be renewed online at gil.cgcc.edu if they are not overdue. Overdue books can only be renewed by Library Staff.
Procedures for renewing books:
- Select the button labeled YOUR ACCOUNT
- Select BARCODE from the drop-down menu
- Enter your STUDENT IDENTIFICATION NUMBER in the textbox to the right of the drop-down menu
- Enter you LAST NAME
- Click the LOGON button
- Under ITEMS CHARGED OUT select the check box next to the title you want to renew
- Click on the RENEW ITEMS button
Computer Lab Within the library there is a computer lab for student use. These computers provide access to the Internet, e-mail, computer assisted instruction and Microsoft office. Student identification cards are required to be displayed when using the computer lab. Printouts are free for students with valid ID using the print work stations in the lab. The computer lab closes 10 minutes prior to the library's closing time.
PUBLIC COMPUTERS. The library has a few computers for the public to use. The public computers can not access the Internet or e-mail. They may not be used for word processing. They can access GALILEO, tax forms, the Library Catalog, etc. Printouts are 5 cents per page.
Photocopying Copies of needed materials may be made from single sheets, books, and periodicals for 5 cents per sheet. Instructions for operating equipment are posted.
Children Children under the age of 16 must be under the supervision of a parent, legal guardian, or other responsible adult.
The following are NOT permitted in the library Using cell phones, pagers, and tobacco products. Eating and/or drinking are NOT permitted in the library. |
