I just finished "An Orphan Masters Son" by Adam Johnson. Wow. It wasn't an easy read to get into, but once I was in, it was an unbelievable ride. It was an amazing eye opener into North Korea and its people. I am now reading "The Goldfinch" by Donna Tartt. I am about halfway and am very intrigued by the protagonist. A great read!
In an effort to broaden my son's horizons beyond fantasy books, I embarked on a sports memoir jag this summer, reading Hope Solo's memoir "Solo; Rebound" by Bob Greene, about Michael Jordan's second career in baseball; and "The Secret Race", by Tyler Hamilton, about doping in the Tour de France.
