GSU Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
I need to drop one of my GSU classes. How do I do this and will I get a refund? All requests to drop a class must be submitted in writing. Students can complete a drop form in the Brunswick Center Office. Requests can also be submitted by fax or email. In your request, please include your name, student ID number, the class you wish to drop and the CRN number. No refunds will be made to students dropping a course after the first day of class.
Can I register for classes online? No, online registration is not available to Brunswick Center students. We recommend that you take advantage of early registration to avoid lines. Registration forms can be completed with your advisor or at the Brunswick Center. Please complete the entire form including the financial aid section.
I am a Brunswick Center student and GSU is my home school. I am taking classes from CGCC and GSU this semester. How does this affect my financial aid? As a member of the consortium, you only have to apply for financial aid from GSU. When you register for classes, it is your responsibility to indicate on your Brunswick Center registration form that you are applying for aid through GSU. A cross registration CRN number will be entered to notify GSU of your hours on the CGCC campus. Your aid file will remain unprocessed for these hours if you do not complete the financial aid section of your registration form.
Do I have to drive to Statesboro to purchase my textbooks? Textbooks for GSU classes can be purchased online from the GSU bookstore (www.gsustore.com). Financial aid vouchers are not accepted for online purchases. Textbooks for GSU classes are not available in the CGCC bookstore.
I'm a GSU student taking classes in Brunswick with the Brunswick Center. Do I have to buy a parking decal? Yes, all students must register their vehicles. Permits can be purchased for $2.00 at the Business Office. After 4:00, permits can be purchased at the Library.
When is spring break? What is the first day of the semester? When does the semester end? The GSU academic calendar can be found in the GSU catalog (internet link available on GSU admissions page. Note: Armstrong Atlantic State University and Coastal Georgia Community College may operate on different schedules. If you are taking classes from another consortium school, make sure you check their calendar as well.
One of my classes is offered online through WebCT. How does this work? You can access the WebCT page from GSU's website (www.mt.georgiasouthern.edu).
How do I know what classes to take? When you meet with your advisor, you will complete a program of study. It is your responsibility to make sure that you are taking classes that fulfill requirements on your program of study. Your advisor can help you pick appropriate classes. Some programs operate on a rotation of classes. If you follow the rotation, you will complete all required classes for your degree.
Where can I find a map of the CGCC campus? A map can be printed from the CGCC website at www.cgcc.edu/camp_map.html
