Designated staff members of Columbia Gorge Community College may apply for tuition reimbursement for courses, seminars, or other study if such courses are directly related to the employee's employment with the district.

Reimbursement for approved courses shall be based on fees as prescribed by the State System of Higher Education during the budget year in which such reimbursement is requested.

Reimbursement for college classes and workshop fees will be limited to the equivalent tuition cost of nine college quarter hours per each contracted year of employment as approved in advance by the President.

This policy is limited as follows:

  • Tuition reimbursement shall not exceed the tuition fees of the State System of Higher Education during the budget year in which the reimbursement is requested;
  • Classes shall be those leading to a certificate, degree, or be directly related to the employee's professional area;
  • A grade of A, B, C, P, or S must be earned unless the class is non-graded or is non-credit. Transcripts or grade slips must be submitted with the request for reimbursement;
  • Course reimbursement per each contracted year of employment shall include Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring terms.

THE REQUEST FOR REIMBURSEMENT MUST BE APPROVED IN ADVANCE.

The staff member is responsible for providing a copy of the fees prescribed by the State System of Higher Education, a grade slip, and a receipt.
