Unless excused by the supervisor, all employees are expected to be at their assigned work stations and ready to begin work at the time they are scheduled to work.  Unexcused tardiness, leaving early or absenteeism will not be tolerated and may lead to disciplinary action.  Supervisors are instructed to monitor work schedules and take appropriate disciplinary action when employees violate this policy.

The level of discipline that is imposed for a violation of this policy will be determined on the basis of all relevant facts.  As a general matter, the following disciplinary steps will typically occur:

Step 1: A verbal reprimand will be given and the date and time of the offense will be filed in the employee’s personnel file.

Step 2: A written reprimand will be given to the employee and a copy of the written reprimand will be placed in the employee’s personnel file.

Step 3: A second reprimand will be given to the employee and copy of the written reprimand will be placed in the employee’s personnel file.  Notice will be given that the next violation will lead to suspension.

Step 4: An employee will be suspended for two work days, 16 hours, without pay.  Notice will be given that the next violation will lead to termination.
